1. MANDATORY CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 VACCINATION OF DOD CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES, 1 OCT 21. Memo from the Deputy Secretary of Defense: Per this memo, all DoD civilian employees must be fully vaccinated by November 22, 2021, subject to exemptions as required by law. Employees are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after completing the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or 2 weeks after receiving a single dose of a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine. The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. Spouses may use their My Career Advancement Account Scholarship funds at any academic institution approved for participation in the scholarship. 1. TEMPORARY BASIC ALLOWANCE FOR HOUSING (BAH) INCREASE DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.  The Secretary of Defense has approved a temporary increase in BAH rates for 56 Military Housing Areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  These rates are effective for the period of 1 October 2021 through 31 December 2021.  OSD and Army G-1 will issue DFAS SmartDoc messages advising Soldiers on the eligibility criteria and procedure to apply for the increase through their S1/personnel offices.
