On 31 August 2022, COL (Ret) Robert L. Manning, AGCRA President, visited the Army’s Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1 (a.k.a. Army G-1), at The Pentagon. He was accompanied by COL (Ret) Steve Shappell, AGCRA Vice President for History (and an Army G-1 Civilian employee).
While at the Pentagon, COL (Ret) Manning met with LTG Douglas Stitt, the new Army G-1; BG Hope Rampy, the new Director of Military Personnel Management (DMPM); and SGM Mark Clark, Army G-1 Sergeant Major. COL (Ret) Manning outlined his plans to grow the AGCRA’s membership, including several new membership programs and benefits in development. He also expressed the AGCRA’s continued support to the AG Corps, and thanked the Army G-1 leadership for their continued support of AGCRA.
COL (Ret) Manning also received feedback on the AGCRA Awards Program, and AG School recognition programs. The visit also allowed COL (Ret) Manning to receive feedback from the Army G-1 Sergeant Major on innovative ways to reach out to the younger generation of AG Soldiers, including social media and engagements with young AG influencers.
COL (Ret) Manning also met with CPT Sara Higgins, AGCRA Potomac Chapter Secretary, to discuss Chapter activities and specific efforts to grow the Chapter via outreach to younger AG Soldiers.
Finally, COL (Ret) Manning met with CW5 Ryan Martin, a senior AG Warrant Officer assigned to Army G-1, to discuss ways Ryan could continue to serve the AGCRA following his upcoming retirement.
