1. PROMOTION TO SSG – EDAS PM SCREEN – LESS THAN 12 MONTHS LEFT IN SERVICE. From HRC Enlisted Promotions: The service remaining requirements (SRR) for promotion to SSG was removed in accordance with 600-8-19, Paragraph 3-33, dated 16 May 2019. Effective 22 May 2019, EDAS was updated to enable HR professionals the ability to process a promotion transaction to SSG in the EDAS PM screen when the Soldier has less than 12 months remaining in the service. HR professionals no longer need to submit request to HRC Junior Enlisted Promotions to process promotions to SSG when Soldiers have less than 12 months left in service. https://www.milsuite.mil/book/

The purpose of this ALARACT is to provide clarifying guidance to the field on Army SDAP. SDAP is a discretionary monetary incentive, paid to enlisted Soldiers who qualify for and serve in designated special duty assignments that have extremely demanding duties requiring extraordinary effort for satisfactory performance or an unusual degree of responsibility. The guidance in this message is effective immediately and applies to all Active Army Airborne enlisted Soldiers. Retention of an individual in Airborne duty, Ranger duty, and Special Forces will be based on his or her continued demonstrated ability to perform satisfactorily his or her duty. Retention must also be based on the effect such an assignment will have upon an individual’s health and well-being by remaining on such duty. Following this guidance, individuals no longer physically capable of performing Airborne duty will have the Special Qualification Identifier (SQI) removed.
