1. THE ARMY CAC CERTIFICATE REDUCTION AND REALIGNMENT PLAN. From the Army CIO G-6: The DoD CIO is modifying the certificates on the CAC to use a single certificate to perform all authentication functions in order to meet the Federal PIV standard. This plan streamlines authentication functions under the PIV authentication certificate and improves the Army-s cybersecurity posture. No action is required by CAC holders if the CAC was issued on or after 24 Feb 2018. All others must activate the PIV authentication certificate on their CAC by visiting the DMDC RAPIDS Self-Service ID Card Office Online. 2. FOREIGN BADGES. From HRC Awards and Decorations Branch: DoDI 1348.33 (referencing 5 USC 7342) prohibits Service members from requesting or otherwise encouraging the offer of an award or decoration from a foreign government. This does not apply when the award or decoration (including badges) is presented as a result of exemplary participation in an official military exchange program. Leaders must exercise caution when it comes to support of foreign badge-producing events. Listing of an approved device in AR 600-8-22 does not exempt Soldiers from earning the device in accordance with Army and DoD policy.
