5. ENGAGING TO STRENGTHEN SOCIAL CONNECTIONS. From the Army Resilience Directorate:  Social connections are a critical part of human nature and improve our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. We recognize why it’s important to eat our vegetables, get enough sleep and exercise, but how many of us regard social connections as being just as valuable? According to research by Emma Seppälä, social connections lead to lower levels of anxiety, higher self-esteem, and greater empathy.  People with strong social connections are more likely to trust—and be trusted—by those around them.
